Senior Automotive Systems & Applications Engineer (Edge AI): Lead customer implementation of advanced automotive systems deploying edge AI workloads within centralized and zonal vehicle architectures with an accent on workload mapping, performance/safety tradeoffs, and on-vehicle optimization. Focus on designing proof-of-concept systems, benchmarking processor capabilities, solving complex system-level issues, and guiding AI solutions from definition to production deployment.

What you will do

• Promote design-win activity by enabling customer transitions from reference designs to production applications.
• Develop application-specific software, firmware, and hardware solutions using NXP's automotive microcontrollers and processors.
• Design, build, and test proof-of-concept systems, reference designs, and evaluation kits.
• Provide technical support including debugging and resolving complex system-level issues.
• Create application notes, documentation, and training materials for customer adoption.
• Lead edge AI solution development, optimizing latency, power, and safety for on-vehicle deployment.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to product roadmaps based on customer insights.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• 7+ years in automotive embedded systems development or applications engineering.
• Strong knowledge of Arm-based MCU/MPU, heterogeneous multi-core systems, automotive architectures, protocols (PCIe, Ethernet, CAN, LIN, FlexRay), and ISO 26262.
• Proficiency in embedded C/C++, embedded Linux, RTOS, compilers, emulators, and development tools.
• Experience with customer interactions across automotive development cycles.
• Very strong oral and written English skills.
• Foundational AI/ML knowledge for embedded/edge systems.

Nice to have

• Prior experience with NXP automotive portfolio (S32Z/E, S32N, S32G, S32K).
• Exposure to edge AI deployment tools (TensorFlow, PyTorch, TensorFlow Lite, ONNX, GLOW).
• On-device AI model profiling experience.
