What you will do

• Lead legal function as technology-first operator, implementing AI tools across legal and compliance from day one.
• Serve as primary advisor to CEO, executives, and Board on legal, regulatory, and strategic matters.
• Oversee Compliance department, consumer lending regulations (TILA, ECOA, etc.), state licensing, and ILC bank charter strategy.
• Manage corporate governance, litigation, outside counsel, and legal spend efficiently.
• Provide guidance on product development, M&A, and AI initiatives like algorithmic credit decisioning.
• Build high-performance legal team aligned with company values.

Requirements

• J.D. from top-ranked U.S. law school; 8–15 years relevant experience (law firm + in-house ideal)
• Track record leading AI implementation in legal/compliance at high-growth fintech or digital lender
• Deep U.S. consumer lending expertise (BNPL preferred); experience with CFPB, FTC, state regulators
• Regulatory navigation including examinations; ILC charter or de novo bank experience a plus
• Strong team-building, communication, and strategic execution skills
• Public company experience preferred

• Canadian consumer protection law familiarity
• Background in financial tech product development or coding legal-tech tools
