TL;DR

Harness Engineer (EWIS): Designing, building, integrating, testing, and flying flight and test electrical harnesses for aviation safety-enhancing systems with an accent on routing, component selection, and manufacturing/integration processes. Focus on hands-on hardware work across avionics, mechanical, integration, and production teams, including safety-critical design trades and testing to DO-160 requirements.

What you will do

  • Define harnessing design with avionics, mechanical, and integration teams, including routing strategy, component selection, and manufacturing/integration processes.
  • Perform detailed design of flight and test harnesses, including harnesses, enclosures, and mounting hardware.
  • Work with production technicians and A&Ps to build and install harnesses on aircraft.
  • Design, install, and test hardware on a remotely operated aircraft.
  • Support integration of harnessing across avionics, mechanical, and production workflows.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in electrical harness design.
  • Ability to route harnessing both in CAD and physically in the airplane.
  • Experience with connectors, backshells, EMI shielding, and cable/wire protection methods.
  • Must be located at the facility in Mountain View, California.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

Nice to have

  • Experience defining routing and bulkhead requirements.
  • Experience with NX routing and Capital Harness Designer.
  • Experience with safety-critical hardware and certification-path aviation development projects.
  • Experience testing hardware to DO-160 requirements.
  • Experience performing design trades and detailed design of aerospace flight harnesses.
