TL;DR

GNC Modeling and Simulation Engineer (Aerospace): Developing physics-based models for aircraft dynamics to enable rapid iteration and certification-grade validation of GNC software with an accent on simulation analysis and correlation with real-world flight data. Focus on building high-fidelity models for aerodynamics and actuator systems to ensure safety and performance in automated aviation.

Location: Must be based in Mountain View, CA. This position requires access to information subject to U.S. export controls; applicants must be U.S. persons or otherwise permitted to access export-controlled technology.

Salary: $185,000 – $245,000

What you will do

  • Develop physics-based models representative of aircraft dynamics including aerodynamics and ground reactions.
  • Identify, request, and analyze flight tests to inform and validate simulation models.
  • Conduct closed-loop testing of flight control systems using simulated aircraft dynamics.
  • Develop tools for visualizing and analyzing complex simulation and flight data.
  • Perform rigorous validation of simulation models against real-world flight test data.

Requirements

  • BS in aerospace engineering, robotics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with aerodynamics, flight dynamics simulation, and system identification.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, and MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Experience working in Linux-based development environments.
  • Must be a U.S. person or authorized to access export-controlled technology under U.S. law.

Nice to have

  • MS or PhD in aerospace engineering, robotics, or a related field.
  • Experience with high-fidelity physics-based aircraft simulation systems.
  • Current pilot, instrument, or commercial ratings.
