Product Design Engineering Intern, Fall/Winter 2026

Location: San Bruno, California, United States. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is not available.

Estimated base salary: $35–$45 per hour, excluding benefits and potential equity.

What you will do

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and validate new consumer products.
• Develop prototypes and execute tests to advance designs toward mass-production maturity.
• Support 3D CAD design and 2D engineering documentation using tools such as NX.
• Work hands-on with hardware components, lab equipment, and rapid prototyping methods.
• Support engineering builds and partner with suppliers and contract manufacturers to troubleshoot manufacturing quality issues.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, completed or in progress.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and material selection for electro-mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD, preferably NX.
• Proficiency in a variety of rapid prototyping methods.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Authorization to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is unavailable.

Nice to have

• Experience with FEA, thermal simulation, and statistical analysis methods.
• Experience designing for high-volume manufacturing, including DFM/DFA.
