Director, Autonomy Perception (Robotics): Leading the vision, strategy, and technical roadmap of the Autonomy Perception team with an accent on sensor processing algorithms and high-quality data integration. Location: Remote (Anywhere). Company is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan; moderate travel (11%-25%) is required.
Salary: $220,000 - $300,000 USD

What you will do
- Define and execute the autonomy perception strategy and technical roadmap in coordination with fellow executives.
- Improve core perception technologies, specifically object detection, classification, tracking, and prediction.
- Lead the design and specification of next-generation sensor suites to optimize performance and cost.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track autonomy system performance.
- Manage, mentor, and hire a diverse team of perception engineers and scientists.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Vehicle Engineering, Product, and Operations to deploy perception solutions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of engineering experience with a PhD or Master's in Robotics, Computer Science, or a similar technical field.
- 7+ years of software-focused experience solving complex robotics problems in mission-critical systems.
- Proven experience leading teams of 10+ engineers, including goal setting and performance management.
- Demonstrated success as a principal engineer or director in the autonomous vehicle or related space.
Nice to have
- 5+ years of management experience.
- Experience developing or utilizing Multi-Policy Decision Making (MPDM).
- Previous startup experience.
