What you will do

• Generate user-centered product concepts focusing on ergonomics, aesthetics, and functional innovation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define solutions that meet functional requirements while enhancing user experience.
• Lead design studies to solve technical and user-experience challenges.
• Build and test low-fidelity prototypes to validate findings through user testing.
• Translate consumer feedback and technical constraints into refined design solutions.

Requirements

• Current student (3rd year+, Master's, or within 1 year of graduation) in Industrial Design, Product Design Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Must be able to work a full-time, 40-hour-per-week schedule onsite in Needham, MA.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or Rhino) and 3D printing.
• Hands-on experience building physical prototypes in plastic or metal using machine shop equipment.
• Strong intuition for physics principles, ergonomics, and human-centered engineering.
• Portfolio submission is required, emphasizing the design and engineering process over final results.

Nice to have

• Basic understanding of electronics (motors, sensors, PCBAs) used in small appliances.
• Experience with rapid prototyping tools such as Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
