Staff Software Engineer (Java Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in Amsterdam, Netherlands (1-2 days at the office)

What you will do

• Design high-level technical solutions and document them through RFCs (Request for Comments).
• Shape the technical direction and advocate for modern software development practices across the organization.
• Analyze scalability challenges and proactively resolve technical debt and system issues.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and collaborate on cross-team projects with broad impact.
• Partner with Product Owners to diagnose and resolve complex live user issues and monitoring alerts.

Requirements

• Expert-level command of Java, Kotlin, and the Spring framework ecosystem.
• Proven experience with transactional Kafka and event-sourcing architectures.
• Solid working knowledge of GCP, with a strong focus on Kubernetes.
• Deep understanding of system-design concepts and microservices design trade-offs.
• Proficiency in Git and collaborative workflows such as GitFlow.
• Must be based in or able to work from the Amsterdam office in a hybrid capacity.

Nice to have

• Regular use of GenAI tools to accelerate delivery and improve workflow.
• Working knowledge of the Scrum framework and an Agile mindset.
