TL;DR
Quantitative Analyst Climate (Climate Science/Data Science): Developing geospatial models and data processing pipelines to assess climate-related risks and impacts for 's global activities with an accent on physical risk projections and sustainability analytics. Focus on combining geospatial data sources to estimate probability of impactful events and leveraging Generative AI for data extraction.
Location: Hybrid in Utrecht, NL. Must be based in the Netherlands; relocation is not possible for this role.
Salary: €4,931 - €7,043 per month

What you will do
- Develop geospatial models and data processing pipelines to assess risks from natural climate hazards, such as floods and droughts, under various scenarios.
- Produce climate risk indicators and sustainability analytics using a cloud-based analytics environment.
- Leverage Generative AI to efficiently extract key data points from client reports to produce sustainability insights.
- Partner with risk teams, business units, and climate scientists to translate hazard projections into actionable insights.
- Collaborate with external scientists and initiatives to align the latest developments with organizational needs.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or PhD in environmental sciences, geosciences, or a related quantitative field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in climate science, environmental modelling, or sustainability analytics.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Experience in geospatial data analysis using GeoPandas, xarray, and/or ArcGIS.
- Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Must be located in the Netherlands.
Nice to have
- Solid foundation in data science and Generative AI.
- Experience working in Azure (Databricks, DevOps) and version control (Git).
- Proficiency in Dutch.
