What you will do

• Design mission and flight manager state machines and orchestration logic for safe-state transitions.
• Implement end-to-end fault management (detection, isolation, mitigation, and recovery) for all onboard systems.
• Develop flight-critical components in Rust and C++ for embedded Linux/RTOS with strong observability.
• Build validation tooling including scenario libraries, SIL/HIL, and fault-injection harnesses.
• Collaborate with planning, perception, and controls teams to codify and enforce runtime contracts.
• Improve MTBF/MTTR and reduce intervention rates using fleet telemetry and incident reviews.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building production software for robotics, aerospace, AV, or safety-critical embedded systems.
• Expertise in Rust and/or C++ for real-time, fault-tolerant applications.
• Hands-on experience with SIL/HIL, scenario validation, and fault injection.
• Proven track record of shipping autonomy features into dynamic real-world environments.
• Proficiency in HW/SW co-design and reasoning about sensors, compute, and actuators.
• Must be based in or able to work from the South San Francisco HQ (in-office).
