What you will do

• Design and build distributed systems that support reliability, resiliency, and safe operation at scale.
• Implement traffic control mechanisms including circuit breakers, rate limiting, admission control, and backpressure.
• Develop and evolve load testing and chaos engineering frameworks to validate system behavior under peak traffic.
• Define and implement SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets to guide reliability tradeoffs.
• Build tooling to improve incident detection, response, and automated mitigation.
• Review service architectures to identify failure modes and scalability limits.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Python, Elixir, or Go (or a strong desire to learn these stacks).
• Strong fundamentals in designing and operating shared production services and frameworks.
• Experience with cloud-native environments (AWS or GCP), Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code.
• Hands-on experience with observability, monitoring, and debugging of production systems.
• Strong collaboration and clear written/verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-traffic, real-time, or event-driven systems.
• Experience building developer-facing tools, frameworks, or platform libraries.
