What you will do

• Develop generative AI models (VAEs, diffusion, or RL) for nanoparticle formulation design targeting specific therapeutic outcomes.
• Integrate counterfactual explanation methods to make AI-driven design decisions transparent and trustworthy.
• Co-supervise doctoral candidates focusing on database curation and transport modelling.
• Collaborate with international experimental partners within the NAP4DIVE consortium.
• Contribute to high-impact scientific publications.

Requirements

• PhD in Machine Learning, AI, Computational Chemistry, Computational Materials Science, or a related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in generative models for molecular/materials design with at least one first-author publication.
• Strong programming proficiency in Python, specifically with PyTorch or JAX.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Ability to formulate research questions and drive projects to publication independently.

Nice to have

• Experience with drug delivery, nanomedicine, or pharmaceutical formulation.
• Familiarity with explainable AI (XAI) or counterfactual explanation methods.
• Experience with Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) or molecular dynamics data.
• Track record of interdisciplinary collaboration.
