TL;DR

Computer Architecture Intern (AI): Implementing, mapping, and simulating neural rendering algorithms on event-based Neural Processing Units (NPUs) with an accent on energy efficiency and performance benchmarking. Focus on optimizing hardware and compiler workflows to enhance AR application capabilities for Spectacles development.

Location: Must be based in Eindhoven, Netherlands (Onsite 4+ days per week)

What you will do

• Implement and map neural rendering algorithms onto specialized NPU hardware.
• Perform detailed performance benchmarking and analysis of NPU throughput.
• Identify and prototype hardware and compiler-level optimizations.
• Collaborate with the AI Core Architecture team to validate performance improvements.
• Document and present findings to improve overall system efficiency.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program in CS, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Graduating no earlier than December 2026.
• Must be able to start in Eindhoven office in May or June 2026 for a 13-week period.
• Strong foundation in computer architecture and digital design.
• Proficiency in Python or C++.
• Familiarity with deep learning frameworks and neural networks.

Nice to have

• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Knowledge of computer graphics technologies like Unity or Unreal Engine.
• Familiarity with event-based processors or sensors.
