What you will do

• Lead the architecture and delivery of foundational backend systems supporting subscriptions, invoicing, and usage-based billing.
• Design extensible platform capabilities that enable new product use cases while preserving reliability and performance.
• Drive technical direction across teams by making clear architectural choices and aligning stakeholders.
• Partner with product and engineering leaders to balance user needs with maintainability and scale.
• Improve system design and domain modeling through technical leadership and design reviews.
• Mentor senior engineers and contribute directly to implementation in high-leverage or complex codebase areas.

Requirements

• 15+ years of software engineering experience building and operating large-scale backend or platform systems.
• Demonstrated track record of leading technical design for complex, ambiguous product initiatives across multiple teams.
• Strong systems design skills, including experience with scalable, extensible architectures.
• Experience working with distributed and asynchronous systems in production environments.
• Proven ability to influence technical direction and translate business goals into technical strategy.
• Regular, hands-on code contributions and review activity in large production systems.

Nice to have

• Experience building billing, payments, financial systems, or other configurable business platforms.
• Experience with domain-driven design and strong domain modeling in complex software systems.
• Experience leading re-architecture or migration efforts in mature production systems.
• Familiarity with Ruby, Java, Kafka, Flink, or MongoDB.
