Senior Network Design Engineer (ISP)

TL;DR

Senior Network Design Engineer (ISP): Designing and evolving large-scale ISP subscriber and core IP/MPLS network architectures with an accent on high-availability BNG services, segment routing, and automated infrastructure deployments. Focus on technical authority for design documentation, end-to-end platform ownership, and driving operational assurance through advanced telemetry and automation.

Location: Hybrid role based in London (Brick Lane office).

What you will do

• Elicit business and technical requirements from stakeholders to inform network design strategies.
• Author and present comprehensive high-level and low-level design documents for Telco services.
• Perform platform audits, analysis, and migration planning to improve network performance and reliability.
• Own technical solutions end-to-end, including hardware/software selection, security vulnerability assessments, and vendor roadmap steering.
• Design scalable, repeatable network automation solutions using Python and Ansible to support DevOps capabilities.
• Define telemetry requirements and KPIs to support fault investigation and capacity planning across core and metro networks.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to commute to London, UK.
• Proven experience translating complex requirements into implementable network designs with documented justifications.
• Deep expertise in ISP subscriber technologies (DHCP, PPPoE, RADIUS) and BNG redundancy models.
• Strong background in designing IP/MPLS networks including Segment Routing, MP-BGP, EVPN, and VPLS.
• Solid understanding of automation workflows using Python, Ansible, and Git-based version control.
• Strong analytical skills regarding packet-level behavior (TCP/UDP, MTU, encapsulation) and standard compliance.

Nice to have

• Practical experience with OpenConfig and NETCONF/YANG.
• Knowledge of IPv4aaS and MAP-T technologies.
• Technical familiarity with Nokia (7750), Huawei (CX600/NE8000), or Cisco (IOS-XR) platforms.
• Prior experience contributing to or owning formal network standards.
