What you will do

• Provide technical leadership and guidance during code reviews and design decisions.
• Drive successful product delivery by taking ownership of projects and managing project scope.
• Build a high-performing team by motivating engineers and improving processes.
• Increase transparency within the team and champion their achievements.
• Proactively communicate with leadership and stakeholders to ensure alignment.
• Articulate a clear vision for the team's mission and connect their work to Nomic's broader goals.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience directly managing and growing engineering teams, ideally including senior engineers and/or multiple teams, in a remote or async environment.
• 6+ years of experience technically leading projects and driving multi-year roadmaps.
• Ability to direct without micromanaging or forcing decisions.
• Experience implementing or refining processes around performance reviews, career development, and hiring.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to design and implement scalable, maintainable software architectures.

Nice to have

• Prior experience building extensible developer tools, including test environments, deployment systems, build pipelines.
• Experience with open source and/or TypeScript/Rust projects.
