What you will do

• Provide on-site and remote interpretation during support groups, psychoeducational workshops, and community events.
• Assist with written translation of program materials, handouts, and outreach documentation.
• Facilitate communication between clients and mental health staff while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Coordinate with program staff regarding scheduling, needs assessment, and assignment preparation.
• Adhere to interpreter ethics, including confidentiality, neutrality, and impartial communication.
• Participate in volunteer orientations, training sessions, and team meetings.

Requirements

• Fluency in English and Pashto or Dari required.
• Must be based in the US and be a US citizen or hold valid US work authorization.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to maintain neutrality in sensitive situations.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Reliability, punctuality, and consistent availability for scheduled assignments.
• Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethical standards.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in interpretation or translation within healthcare or social services.
