TL;DR

Lead Motion Editor (VFX): Executing non-destructive retargeting and refinement of motion-capture data for high-end feature films with an accent on technical excellence and animation quality. Focus on developing methodologies, blending realistic motion for human and bipedal characters, and mentoring junior team members.

Location: Must be based in London or able to commute to Lacon House studio (Hybrid role, min 2 days on-site/week)

What you will do

• Perform complex retargeting of motion capture data between hierarchies.
• Refine and enhance performance through non-destructive adjustments to posture, gesture, and weight.
• Create fluid, believable transitions by blending diverse animation clips.
• Provide expert mentorship and technical troubleshooting for junior team members.
• Refactor existing workflows and develop new methodologies to improve efficiency.
• Lead project tasks and oversee dailies in the absence of the supervisor.

Requirements

• Proven professional experience in high-end film VFX.
• Expertise in motion retargeting and blending techniques.
• Proficiency in Maya, MotionBuilder, or Blender.
• Strong understanding of animation principles, timing, and posture.
• Ability to work on-site at the London studio at least 2 days per week.
• Current showreel and resume required upon application.

Nice to have

• Experience with Linux environment.
• Familiarity with Vicon Shogun Post software.
