Manual QA Engineer (AI)

Location: New York, United States; hybrid

Hourly rate: $40–$60 per hour. If converted to full-time, the US salary range is $90,000–$120,000 depending on experience and skills.

What you will do

• Perform manual testing of web applications and AI-driven workflows.
• Execute regression, exploratory, functional, sanity, and acceptance testing before releases.
• Validate complex teacher and student workflows, including AI-generated outputs and interactive experiences.
• Write reproducible bug reports with steps, logs, and impact assessments, then collaborate with engineers to verify fixes.
• Identify edge cases, usability issues, quality risks, and release-readiness concerns.
• Contribute to QA documentation, testing checklists, release validation, and post-release verification.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in manual software testing or quality assurance.
• Experience with QA processes and UI/UX testing for web and mobile products.
• Strong experience with manual regression, exploratory, and functional testing.
• Ability to write clear, actionable bug reports and debug issues with engineers.
• Strong attention to detail, product intuition, communication, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Comfort working in a fast-moving startup environment and understanding product behavior and edge cases.

Nice to have

• Experience testing AI- or LLM-powered products.
• Experience with workflows involving APIs, backend systems, or data pipelines.
• Familiarity with browser developer tools, logs, and network inspection.
• Experience testing distributed systems or modern web stacks.
