TL;DR
Staff Workday Engineer (Fintech): Designing, configuring, and optimizing enterprise Workday solutions across HCM, Compensation, Payroll, and Benefits with an accent on architectural leadership, system scalability, and security model design. Focus on building resilient integrations, driving M&A activities, and developing AI-enabled automations to streamline internal HR systems and operational reporting.
Location: Must be based in the Menlo Park, CA office, with at least 3 days per week of in-person attendance.
Salary: $187,000 – $220,000 USD (Zone 1 base pay range)

What you will do
- Drive the end-to-end design, configuration, and continuous improvement of core Workday modules.
- Architect and optimize scalable integrations, custom reports, and advanced security models for high reliability.
- Collaborate with People, Payroll, Finance, and Engineering teams to deliver process automations and resolve complex system issues.
- Lead system initiatives for mergers, acquisitions, and international workforce expansion.
- Develop and implement AI-enabled capabilities within HR systems to enhance workflow efficiency and data-driven decision-making.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional experience with Workday configuration across HCM, Compensation, Payroll, and Benefits.
- Must be able to work on-site in the Menlo Park, CA office at least 3 days per week.
- Proven track record of architectural leadership and design in enterprise HR environments.
- Expertise in building Workday reports, security models, and complex integrations using Workday Studio and APIs (SOAP/REST/WQL).
- Strong understanding of Payroll and Finance processes and their integration points with HR systems.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical system solutions.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with Workday Extend, Orchestrations, and Prism.
- Demonstrated ability to use AI tools for engineering workflows and building AI-enabled automations.
