Senior CFX Artist (Houdini)

TL;DR

Senior CFX Artist (Houdini): Creating photorealistic simulations for characters and creatures in major motion pictures and episodic work with an accent on muscles, skin, cloth, hair, and fur. Focus on building scalable, team-friendly CFX setups and interpreting complex creative briefs through a balance of artistic and technical skills.

Location: Hybrid (Must be based in the UK; minimum 2 days a week in the studio at Old Street, London)

What you will do

• Produce a wide variety of effects in Houdini, including muscles, skin, cloth, hair, and fur simulations.
• Set up and run complex muscle and skin simulations.
• Utilize Vellum to develop and refine cloth and hair simulations.
• Use sculpt tools to add detail and perform final clean-up on simulation work.
• Contribute to the development of Houdini CFX pipeline and tools.

Requirements

• Previous professional experience in a similar CFX role.
• Thorough knowledge of Houdini, including proficiency in Python and VEX.
• Proven experience working on CG creature projects.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for aesthetic and technical detail.
• Current and full work permit for the UK.

Nice to have

• Grooming knowledge.
• Experience creating creatures for commercials.
• Prior production experience using Vellum.
