TL;DR

CG FX Artist (Game Art): Designing and animating effects utilizing Houdini for a new CG series with an accent on smoke, clouds, fire, lava, and water effects. Focus on producing look tests based on provided concepts and working within show structure and production deadlines.

Location: All Atomic employees in this role have the opportunity to work remotely within BC, artists within Vancouver and the Lower Mainland can also choose hybrid and in-studio options.

Salary: $1,200 - $1,450 CAD weekly

What you will do

• Design and animate effects utilizing Houdini for smoke, clouds, fire, lava, and water.
• Take direction from the FX Supervisor, Leads and FX TDs.
• Work with DFX supervisor, lighting team and CG Supervisor to determine the best possible technical and creative approaches.
• Produce look tests based on the provided concepts.
• Work within the show structure and production deadlines to complete tasks.
• Meet deadlines as assigned by production management.

Requirements

• 1+ years of industry experience working in a studio environment on an episodic show.
• Knowledge of Houdini Dynamic tools.
• An understanding of physical dynamics and natural phenomena.
• Self-driven, a good communicator, and a great team player.
• Strong technical skills within a show structure.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve.
• Currently legally eligible to work in Canada.

Nice to have

• Experience rendering with Mantra.
• Basic knowledge of Nuke.
• Basic knowledge of Renderman and/or Katana.
