What you will do

• Define technical strategy for merchant-facing experiences across Stripe, focusing on quality, performance, and AI integration.
• Lead the design and delivery of complex, cross-team projects to improve the reliability and polish of Stripe's merchant surfaces.
• Champion a quality-first engineering culture by establishing standards, tooling, and processes for high-quality UI.
• Drive performance as a product feature, owning the technical approach to making the Dashboard and merchant tools best-in-class.
• Innovate on the future of merchant UX by exploring and prototyping how AI can transform merchant interaction with Stripe products.
• Build platforms and abstractions that make Stripe engineers more productive.

Requirements

• At least 10-15 years of experience in the industry.
• Experience building and shipping complex, user-facing web applications that have reached large-scale audiences.
• A track record of leading large-scale, cross-functional engineering projects.
• Deep expertise in modern frontend and full-stack development.
• Demonstrated ability to drive measurable improvements in software quality and performance.
• Excellent communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience building or maintaining design systems, component libraries, or frontend platform infrastructure at scale, ideally with React.
• A deep interest in the intersection of AI and UX.
• Experience with performance engineering.
• Experience with the complexities of deploying large web applications at global scale.
• Comfort working across the full stack.
