Quantitative Risk Intern (Energy Markets): Migrate and modernize the Contracts for Difference (CfD) hedge position model from Excel to Python, streamlining updates and reducing errors on complex positions. What you will do

• Migrate and modernize the CfD hedge model from Excel to Python.
• Translate complex inputs into clear, actionable hedge instructions.
• Explore weather risk and how CfD derivatives are used to protect customers and the business.
• Support discussions on CfD, evaluating how scheme nuances, market changes, and Clean Power 2030 uncertainties affect customer bills and hedge effectiveness.
• Build practical Python expertise while gaining a deeper understanding of energy markets and risk management.

Requirements

• Currently studying Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
• Interest in mathematical modelling and experience with Python (Power BI is a plus).
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of projects.
• Available to attend an interview in April 2026, if shortlisted.
• Available to undertake the internship from June 2026 to October 2026.
