Staff Backend Engineer (Web3)

Location: New York, United States; hybrid work

Salary: $207,000–$259,000 annual base salary, plus token compensation and benefits

Core contributor to a decentralized exchange protocol and builder of web, wallet, trading API, and Ethereum Layer 2 products serving users across multiple blockchain networks.

What you will do

• Lead technical projects from ideation and system design through implementation, testing, and deployment.
• Design and build resilient, large-scale systems with strong reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Write well-tested code and review contributions from other engineers.
• Provide technical leadership on complex architecture and coding decisions.
• Drive engineering best practices and strategic initiatives across multiple engineering pods.
• Mentor engineers and deliver organization-wide technical improvements.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building and maintaining large-scale production systems.
• Experience as a technical lead or in a comparable leadership role.
• Strong coding skills and expertise in cloud architecture, distributed systems, and algorithms.
• Ability to independently lead requirements gathering, system design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
• Experience mentoring and guiding engineers.
• Interest in modern development practices and crypto technology.

Nice to have

• Experience with time-series monitoring and observability systems.
• Knowledge of TypeScript, Go, GraphQL, and AWS.
• Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
