Production Designer (Gamedev)

TL;DR

Location: Must be legally eligible to work in British Columbia or Ontario, Canada (Hybrid schedule).

What you will do

• Define and maintain the artistic vision, style guides, and color palettes for the series.
• Lead and mentor the 2D Layout and Background Paint teams through daily reviews and constructive feedback.
• Bridge the gap between 2D painterly aesthetics and 3D environment pipelines in collaboration with CG supervisors.
• Implement efficient creative workflows and matte painting techniques to elevate visual quality.
• Utilize and provide user-testing feedback for the proprietary Dart AI software to improve animation tech.
• Communicate complex visual concepts to cross-functional teams including directors and VFX supervisors.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in animation or film as an Art Director, Production Designer, or similar.
• Expert portfolio demonstrating 2D/3D pipeline integration.
• Advanced mastery of composition, lighting, and color theory.
• Strong technical proficiency in Photoshop.
• Legally eligible to work in British Columbia or Ontario, Canada.
• Proactive mindset toward testing and integrating Generative AI tools into creative workflows.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of Maya and 3D asset pipelines.
• Experience with ShotGrid (Shotgun) and series production scheduling.
