What you will do
- Lead and nurture a high-performing autonomous team of engineers to deliver reliable data-intensive systems.
- Establish operational excellence through SLO-driven reliability, incident management, and proactive observability.
- Oversee the end-to-end delivery of a portfolio of production systems, including data pipelines and APIs.
- Guide architectural decisions and maintain high engineering standards across Python and TypeScript stacks.
- Partner with Product, Research, and Data teams to prioritize work and drive long-term strategic initiatives.
- Manage AWS infrastructure and platform components using Terraform, ensuring scalability and cost-efficiency.
Requirements
- 8+ years of engineering management experience, with at least 3 years leading teams of 5+ on production data systems.
- Hands-on background with Python backend systems and cloud-native AWS infrastructure.
- Experience managing teams building scalable data pipelines or ETL systems using tools like Airflow.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and deployment automation.
- Ability to manage distributed teams and foster a strong culture of ownership and high performance.
Nice to have
- Experience with TypeScript/Node.js API development and GraphQL.
- Background in commodities, energy, or fintech domains.
- Familiarity with production ML systems and anomaly detection.
- Knowledge of tribe/squad organizational models.
