What you will do

• Develop and maintain software systems for autonomous vessel navigation and communication using NixOS.
• Collaborate with hardware engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration and vessel operation.
• Implement complex algorithms for vessel controls and sensor fusion.
• Optimize network communications specifically for low-bandwidth and high-latency environments.
• Conduct rigorous software testing and validation to ensure reliability in challenging real-world maritime settings.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex software issues while maintaining high coding standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Must have 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in robotics or autonomous systems.
• Must be a U.S. Person as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) due to export control regulations.
• Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and modern software design patterns.
• Solid experience with embedded Linux systems and low-level software development.
• Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with low-level serial protocols such as RS-232 or CAN.
• Advanced understanding of networking principles including TCP/IP and UDP.
• Experience with sensors, control systems, and maritime-specific operational challenges.
• Knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) software development standards.
