TL;DR

Expert Graphics Engineer (Unreal Engine): Designing and optimizing high-performance rendering systems for a large-scale multiplayer RPG with an accent on visual fidelity, shader development, and low-level engine architecture. Location: Must be based in the US (restricted to select states) or able to work in or relocate to Boston, MA.

Salary: $168,200 – $257,000 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Design, implement, and optimize custom rendering systems for high visual fidelity in a third-party engine.
  • Develop innovative rendering approaches for large-scale, open-world multiplayer environments.
  • Collaborate with art and tech art teams to build efficient tools and workflows that enhance visual impact.
  • Maintain, debug, and enhance existing graphics systems to improve performance and memory usage.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to less experienced team members.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Graphics Engineer to execute technical roadmaps and ensure high engineering standards.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of game development experience, with 5+ years specialized in graphics programming.
  • Deep proficiency in C++ and understanding of GPU/CPU architecture.
  • Experience with AAA console titles and Unreal Engine 4/5.
  • Strong knowledge of rendering techniques including shaders, ray tracing, and lighting.
  • Experience with low-level graphics APIs such as DirectX12 or Vulkan.
  • Must reside in an eligible US state (e.g., MA, NY, CA, TX, etc.) for remote work.

Nice to have

  • Experience with virtual geometry and global illumination techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware ray tracing.
  • Familiarity with platform-specific memory management and optimizations.
