Staff Software Engineer (Web3)

Location: Menlo Park, CA or New York, NY, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week

Base pay: $230,000–$270,000 USD for Zone 1 locations; additional compensation includes bonus opportunities, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the technical vision and execution for Robinhood Chain, the Tokenization Engine, and Robinhood Wallet.
• Design, build, and operate core services for blockchain, tokenization, and wallet platforms.
• Write production code, lead complex implementations, and establish high engineering-quality standards.
• Drive reliability, correctness, observability, security, and adoption of AI tooling for engineering.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, architecture discussions, and hands-on technical leadership.
• Align platform direction with adjacent organizations and company-wide initiatives.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Backend development expertise with Go, Python, or Java and deep knowledge of cloud-native architectures.
• 3+ years leading large-scale technical initiatives across multiple teams or complex systems.
• Strong understanding of system design, data modeling, and software engineering fundamentals.
• Proven ability to simplify complex problems, make sound tradeoffs, align stakeholders, and deliver end-to-end product outcomes.
• Experience mentoring engineers and raising team-wide technical standards.
