What you will do

• Monitor database health and participate in follow-the-sun incident response rotations to ensure system reliability.
• Proactively tune performance patterns and optimize critical queries to prevent database bottlenecks.
• Provision database infrastructure and schemas using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop automation scripts to streamline operational tasks and enhance system scalability.
• Support the design and implementation of disaster recovery, replication, and data protection strategies.
• Maintain clear documentation for data systems, configurations, and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Must be based in or able to work from the Belfast office (Hybrid role).
• 2–3 years of experience in Database Administration, Data Reliability Engineering, or SRE roles.
• Foundational knowledge of both relational and NoSQL database concepts.
• Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) for automation tasks.
• Experience with IaC tools like Terraform and familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with GCP data platforms (Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, Spanner, BigQuery).
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of Change Data Capture (CDC) tools like Striim.
• Google Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Database Engineer certification.
