What you will do

• Lead and mentor a focused team across Security Operations and Security Engineering, setting technical direction and growth paths.
• Drive threat detection and incident response operations, evolving detection-as-code practices.
• Partner strategically with Engineering and IT to advance cloud security posture and remediate vulnerabilities in AWS.
• Own and mature Zero Trust architecture, refining policy controls and DLP enforcement.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance identity telemetry and visibility across data pipelines.
• Review and extend automation workflows using Python and SOAR platforms for operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in Chicago, USA
• 7+ years in security engineering or operations with 2+ years in team lead or management roles.
• Deep AWS cloud security expertise including IAM, GuardDuty, and CloudTrail.
• Experience with modern security stacks: EDR, Zero Trust, SIEM in cloud-native environments.
• Technical proficiency in Python for automation and tooling.
• Ability to communicate technical risks to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with SOAR platforms like n8n or Tines.
• Experience in SaaS or high-growth tech companies with resource constraints.
