Gameplay Engineer (Unreal Engine): Develop and refactor gameplay systems to transition an existing UE5 expansion into a standalone commercial game with an accent on architectural adjustments, gameplay improvements, and system stability. Focus on implementing modular gameplay features, debugging complex issues, and collaborating closely with design and art teams in a hybrid work environment.

Location: Hybrid in Loveland, Colorado, preferred 4 days onsite; fully remote negotiable depending on experience and team alignment

Salary: $118,000 - $142,000 annually

What you will do

  • Support architectural transition of UE5 expansion into a standalone product.
  • Implement gameplay systems and features using C++ and Blueprints ensuring code quality.
  • Refactor core gameplay systems for independent operation.
  • Collaborate with art, design, engineering, and QA teams to align gameplay with creative goals.
  • Debug, profile, and resolve complex gameplay and performance issues.
  • Maintain documentation of architectural changes and engineering best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of gameplay engineering experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Blueprints for gameplay development.
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns and scalable system design.
  • Must be able to work in a hybrid role in Colorado.
  • Experience with multiplayer games, replication, and client-server architectures.

Nice to have

  • Experience shipping a game in Unreal Engine.
  • Familiarity with full software development lifecycle and version control systems like Perforce.
  • Knowledge of network-aware Blueprint practices and multiplayer gameplay patterns.
  • Experience with mod-based development environments and survival or sandbox gameplay.
