Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer (Gamedev): Driving overall firmware design and execution for high-profile peripheral and accessory product development for the PlayStation community, with an accent on firmware architecture, communication protocols, and collaboration with internal SW/UX teams. Focus on system-focused software design, managing firmware development efforts, and bridging small core teams with large organizations, from high-level strategy to detailed engineering implementation.

Location: Hybrid (USA). This role requires travel (domestic and international) up to 15%.

Salary: $193,300—$289,900 USD

What you will do

  • Lead firmware architecture and drive overall design for embedded devices.
  • Develop and define new communication protocols for peripheral functionality.
  • Collaborate with internal software teams and UX designers to establish product requirements.
  • Manage firmware development and validation with engineering partners.
  • Support and enhance products after launch.
  • Build team capabilities and foster relationships with internal and external partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience leading embedded firmware development.
  • English: C1+ required for excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong background in system-focused software design.
  • Experience with wireless products and new product development from concept through mass production.
  • Passion and interest in gaming, digital entertainment, consumer electronics, and technology.
