What you will do

• Design and implement scalable backend services and APIs, primarily using Go, TypeScript, Python, and Java.
• Define, evolve, and maintain GraphQL schemas for consumer-facing experiences across web and mobile.
• Design and operate resilient data pipelines across asynchronous systems like Kafka or similar event streams.
• Take full ownership of services in production, including on-call participation, monitoring, and incident response.
• Partner closely with Product, UX, and engineering teams across the stack, aligning on dependencies and trade-offs.
• Actively leverage modern AI development tools to accelerate design, implementation, testing, and debugging.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building scalable backend services for consumer-facing products.
• Strong proficiency in Go (preferred), Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, and/or Java.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, event-driven architectures (Kafka or similar), Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform), and AWS or comparable cloud platforms.
• Strong technical ownership, taking responsibility from design through production operations.
• High engineering bar, writing clean, maintainable code and conducting rigorous code reviews.
• Clear communication for documenting decisions, aligning cross-functional partners, and explaining complex ideas.
• English: B2 required.
• Must be based in Mexico or the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with observability (metrics, logs, traces) and setting actionable alerts.
• Proficiency in cloud and platform engineering to streamline delivery and maintain stable production systems.
• Ability to partner with upstream AI/ML teams to introduce new media types and enrich consumer experiences.
