TL;DR

Localization Proofreader I: Responsible for proofreading Korean-to-English translations to ensure linguistic and cultural accuracy, with an accent on maintaining consistency in terminology and formatting. Focus on reviewing game scripts during QA testing rounds and providing constructive feedback to the translation team.

Location: This role is a full-time, on-site position based 5 days a week at our Downtown LA studio.

Salary: $60,800–$76,000 a year

What you will do

• Review Korean-to-English translations for linguistic and cultural accuracy, recording any errors for internal metric reporting.
• Maintain consistency in terminology and formatting throughout localized materials, adhering to glossaries, translation memories, and special translation rules.
• Confirm that translations are accurate for the context in which they will be used, consulting with editors, translators, or developers as needed.
• Review game scripts during localization quality assurance testing rounds to ensure consistency and confirm that all requested revisions have been made.
• Participate in the review of localized graphics, images, or assets to ensure contextual appropriateness and freedom from errors.
• Provide constructive feedback to the translation team or editors, suggesting revisions and improvements.
• Collaborate with other members of the localization team, including translators, editors, and project managers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant major or previous professional localization experience.
• Fluency in Korean and English.
• Entry-level candidates or those with 1-3 years of relevant translation/proofreading experience.
• Strong attention to detail and an eye for linguistic nuances.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to adapt to specific platform requirements and adhere to established style guides.
