Member of Technical Staff, AI Networking (AI): Designing and scaling advanced high-performance networks for Copilot and next-generation AI systems with an accent on end-to-end networking architecture, fabric design, and ultra-low-latency ROCE networks. Focus on optimizing lossless fabrics at 10k–100k+ GPU scale, benchmarking AI workloads, and partnering across teams to build global infrastructure.

Location: Hybrid, Redmond, United States. Employees are expected to work from a designated Microsoft office at least four days a week if they live within 50 miles (U.S.) of that location.

Salary: USD $139,900 – $274,800 per year (typical U.S.); USD $188,000 – $304,200 per year (San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area).

What you will do

• Design advanced ROCE transport, congestion control, and ECN/WRED/DCTCP tuning.
• Develop fabric architecture, topology planning, and network scaling strategies.
• Engineer telemetry, observability, reliability, and automated troubleshooting for large networks.
• Collaborate with network designers from NVIDIA, Broadcom, and in-house silicon/network co-design teams.
• Bring up, benchmark, and perform root-cause analysis for AI training and inference clusters.
• Gather data and insights to inform the pretraining compute roadmap.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Experience with end-to-end networking architecture and fabric-wide systems for hyperscale AI training clusters.
• Ability to design, bring up, and scale distributed Ethernet and InfiniBand fabrics.
• Experience with ultra-low-latency ROCE networks and congestion-free transport mechanisms.
• Experience optimizing lossless fabrics at 10k–100k+ GPU scale.
• English: B2 required.

Nice to have

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 8+ years technical engineering experience (with Master's) or 12+ years (with Bachelor's) in programming languages.
