Member of Technical Staff (Multimodal AI): Building and optimizing advanced foundation models and frontier AI systems with an accent on pushing the boundaries of scale, performance, and deployment in deep learning. Focus on developing algorithms, designing model architectures, and improving training and deployment efficiency for multimodal systems.

Location: Hybrid, New York, United States. Office attendance is expected at least four days a week if residing within 50 miles of a hirify.global office.

Salary: USD $158,400–$304,200 per year (for New York City metropolitan area).

What you will do

• Develop algorithms, design model architectures, and conduct experiments for foundation models.
• Innovate datasets, data pipelines, and improve training and deployment efficiency for AI systems.
• Follow a rigorous data-driven approach grounded in meticulous ablation studies and scientific analysis.
• Innovate and iterate over ideas, prototypes, and product.
• Collaborate closely with infrastructure, data engineering, pre-training, post-training, and product teams.
• Advance the AI frontier responsibly, ensuring alignment with human values.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in AI, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Experience with large-scale AI systems, including the design and deployment of distributed architectures.
• Proficiency with ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and cloud/HPC environments (e.g., Azure).
• Expertise in data engineering for foundation models, including multimodal dataset design, curation, and quality evaluation.
• Background in LLM interaction and deployment, including prompt engineering and safety-aligned evaluation.

Nice to have

• Master’s Degree in a related technical discipline with 8+ years of technical engineering experience, or Bachelor's with 12+ years of experience.
• Proficiency with common data libraries like Pandas and NumPy.
