Engineer Manager Software Architecture and Strategic Development (Android, Embedded)

Engineer Manager (Android, Embedded): Leading a dynamic team of Software Architects and senior engineers to work on a wide variety of projects involving requirement analysis, architecture, Android device development, and embedded software development with an accent on technical quality, resource planning, and business support. Focus on strategic input for the software development department, performance management, and building high-performance teams, requiring a background in both embedded and Android device development.

Location: Onsite in Lund, Sweden, with approximately 20 travelling days per year, mostly within Sweden and Europe.

What you will do

• Lead and motivate a team of Software Architects and senior engineers focusing on Android and embedded development projects.
• Drive project responsibilities for your team, including resource planning and accountability for the team’s deliveries.
• Participate in customer discussions, quotation work, and project steering to secure quality.
• Provide business support and customer discussions, leveraging technical expertise in Android and embedded domains.
• Manage line activities such as performance reviews, salary reviews, competence development, and recruitment.
• Contribute strategic inputs for the overall software development department and engage with partners.

Requirements

• MSc or BSc in computer science, electronics, or equivalent experience within the area.
• Experience leading, designing, or hands-on working with Android and embedded medium to large size device development projects.
• Excellent communication skills in English, verbal and written.
• Business-driven mindset with experience working directly with external customers.
• Ability to perform effort estimates for software development projects and SoW reviews.
• Background in SW within both embedded and Android device development.

Nice to have

• Experience with embedded real-time operating systems, including embedded Linux and Android system development.
• Experience in SW wireless communications and integration of technologies into products.
• Knowledge of device security and edge computing.
• Understanding of quality assurance in development projects, especially in industries with strict QA control (e.g., functional safety, automotive, medtech).
• Experience in consultancy business.
