System Engineer

TL;DR

System Engineer: Providing configuration and troubleshooting of Cloud/Virtualised Infrastructure, software and Operating Systems for clients with an accent on in-depth administration and resolving technical issues from customers in accordance with SLAs. Focus on using AWS cloud native technology, managing infrastructure with IaC tools like Ansible and Terraform, and maintaining various applications including Atlassian products.

What you will do

• Provide service excellence for internal and/or external clients.
• Configure and troubleshoot Cloud/Virtualised Infrastructure, software, and Operating Systems.
• Administer and troubleshoot OS, applications, databases, and backups daily.
• Utilize AWS cloud native technologies (EC2, RDS, EKS, ECS, EFS, WAF, ELB, Lambda).
• Apply IaC tools like Ansible and Terraform for infrastructure and system configuration management.
• Maintain and configure web servers and manage Java applications on Linux.

Requirements

• Fluent German and English proficiency.
• Extensive hands-on experience in a technical setting with an analytical mindset.
• Demonstrable usage of multiple operating systems, including installation of Rocky Linux and other Linux distributions.
• Ability to demonstrate usage of infrastructure automation and provisioning with tools like Terraform, CloudFormation.
• Ability to demonstrate usage of system configuration, application deployment, and orchestration with Ansible.
• Experience with web server configuration (Apache and Nginx) and middleware systems (JBoss, Jetty, Tomcat).
• Experienced in managing Java applications on Linux and system monitoring (top, sar, Nagios, Zabbix).
• Understanding of LVM, Kernel Parameter Tuning, firewalls, mail relays, and Log monitoring for security.
• Understanding of various data types within SQL and their usage.

Nice to have

• Atlassian accreditation and/or certifications.
• Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth tech startup environment.
• Experience with a major Infrastructure-as-a-Service provider (e.g., AWS) with in-depth knowledge of OS, networking, security, storage.
• ITIL certification.
