TL;DR

3D Character Rigger (Gamedev): Creating and skinning high-performance, animation-friendly character and creature rigs for a cinematic open-world hero shooter video game with an accent on organic joint motion, anatomical accuracy, and efficient production pipelines. Focus on solving complex rigging challenges, refining workflows, and collaborating with 3D artists and animators to achieve fluid character flexibility and biological innate characteristics.

Location: Remote (Global)

Salary: Revenue Share compensation model.

What you will do

  • Create high-performance, animation-friendly character and creature rigs.
  • Rig and skin 3D models in Maya and MotionBuilder to animator specifications.
  • Provide feedback and develop standards for character production and workflows.
  • Work closely with 3D artists and animators to ensure correct 3D structures.
  • Help resolve team problems to meet deadlines.

Requirements

  • Expertise in organic joint and body motion for natural flexibility.
  • Strong knowledge of human and animal anatomy and topology for 3D characters.
  • Excellent knowledge of Maya and experience with MotionBuilder.
  • Solid knowledge of character production pipeline development, rigging, and animation workflows.
  • English: B2 required.
  • 2+ years of experience in rigging and general 3D art production, or 3-5 years of industry experience in game development.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4 and/or 5.
  • Good knowledge of rig scripting, Maya Python, and Mel.
  • Knowledge of HLSL shader in Unreal Engine.
