Staff+ Software Engineer, Developer Productivity (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA; New York City, NY; or Seattle, WA. Hybrid policy: staff are expected to work from one of the offices at least 25% of the time.

Annual salary: $405,000–$625,000 USD

What you will do

• Own the technical strategy and roadmap for developer productivity infrastructure.
• Define architecture and solve complex infrastructure problems directly or through technical leadership.
• Design and build scalable, reliable distributed infrastructure and shared libraries for engineering teams.
• Evolve build environments, package management, dependency systems, and reproducible build workflows.
• Define language ecosystem standards, tooling, and frameworks for research and production workloads.

Requirements

• Deep experience with build systems, CI/CD pipelines, or developer tooling in a large monorepo.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Rust, and/or Go.
• Experience with container orchestration and infrastructure at scale.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to support internal engineering partners.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or experience in a relevant field.
• Strong candidates may have 15+ years of software engineering experience and 3+ years leading large-scale projects or teams as a technical lead.

Nice to have

• Experience with Buildkite, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, merge queue management, or similar CI orchestration tools.
• Experience with remote build execution systems such as Bazel Remote Execution API, BuildBarn, or BuildBuddy.
• Experience with Nix, NixOS, Docker, large image or package sets, CLI tools, developer-facing services, and GitHub API automation.
