Backend Developer (Java/Kotlin)

TL;DR

Location: Candidates must be based in Bulgaria or Poland for remote work, or work onsite in Krakow, Lodz, Lublin, Sofia, Varna, Warsaw, or Wroclaw.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain backend services using Kotlin, Java, and related technologies.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code.
• Create unit tests and participate in integration or performance testing.
• Take part in code reviews.
• Contribute to solving complex technical problems with attention to performance, security, and user experience.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and support product features.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in backend development of commercial web applications using Java and/or Kotlin.
• Strong understanding of core computer science concepts (data structures, algorithms, complexity).
• Experience designing and working with APIs, and building/supporting distributed, scalable systems.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Kafka, Cassandra, or similar tools.
• Good understanding of concurrency and multithreading in Java.
• English: Upper-Intermediate or higher required and effective communication in a multicultural, distributed team.

Nice to have

• Experience with performance optimization.
• Experience contributing to technical design and specifications.
