What you will do
- Define and share the long-term technical direction for investment technology.
- Lead large, high-quality, and efficient projects from start to finish.
- Make important architectural and technical choices affecting multiple teams.
- Diagnose and fix complex problems across different codebases.
- Review code and offer practical, cross-team solutions.
- Guide and mentor engineers on problem-solving.
- Work closely with engineering managers and product leaders as a trusted technical advisor.
Requirements
- Ability to quickly understand and fix issues in unfamiliar codebases.
- Experience troubleshooting bugs and performance in JVM environments and relational databases.
- Ability to diagnose issues in unfamiliar infrastructures, including on-premises systems.
- Strong technical judgment to spot risks and opportunities in designs and implementations.
- Deep understanding of software engineering, system design, and distributed systems.
- Clear communication skills, able to explain complex issues to different audiences.
- Experience mentoring and helping engineering teams grow.
Nice to have
- Experience leading large technical initiatives across teams.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Nomad).
- Knowledge of network middleware (Consul, Kong, Istio) and observability tools (Prometheus, Jaeger, Grafana).
- Knowledge of authentication protocols (OAuth2, OIDC) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
