Engineering Manager (Go)

TL;DR

Engineering Manager (Go): Managing, coaching, and supporting a team of 10-12 engineers to facilitate career growth and ensure reliable delivery of value to users with an accent on breaking down complex strategic goals into executable engineering milestones. Focus on participating in technical RFCs, architecture discussions, and championing operational excellence for services.

Location: Hybrid, must be based in the US and have the ability to work without current or future visa sponsorship. Leaders are expected to be in the workplace a minimum of three days a week.

What you will do

• Manage, coach, and support a team of 10-12 engineers, fostering a culture of psychological safety and continuous learning.
• Act as the "glue" between Product Management, Design, and Engineering, breaking down complex strategic goals into executable milestones.
• Participate in technical RFC reviews and architecture discussions, ensuring modular, composable, maintainable, and robust systems.
• Partner with recruiting to interview and hire engineers, owning the onboarding experience.
• Oversee on-call rotations and incident response processes, championing the health of your team’s services.

Requirements

• Management experience directly leading software engineering teams, with experience in both development and operational workstreams.
• Experience collaborating with a remote distributed team.
• Operational experience managing or participating in on-call rotations and driving observability, reliability, and availability for large-scale distributed systems.
• Background in backend systems engineering (preferably in Go, C++, or Java) with an understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and consistency.
• Familiarity with domain-driven design.
• Must have the ability to work in the US without current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Managed a fullstack team (frontend and backend engineers).
• Exposure to systems software and services written in Go and Javascript.
• Experience in one or more major public clouds.
• Background in leading engineering teams for large-scale enterprise platforms.
