What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of performant, resilient, and scalable backend services primarily in Scala.
• Shape technical direction and contribute to best-in-class engineering standards for the Equities platform.
• Engage in all stages of the product engineering lifecycle: solutioning, design, coding, and testing.
• Promote collaboration, transparency, and engineering excellence within the team.
• Take ownership of work, proactively taking on new responsibilities aligned with product engineering needs.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in both functional and object-oriented Scala programming, with proven experience delivering enterprise-grade applications in production.
• Strong understanding of microservices design, event-driven architecture, and Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, DevOps pipelines (ideally GitLab), and shift-left testing tools (JUnit, Cucumber, PACT, Test Containers).
• Working knowledge of event/message brokers like Kafka and relational databases like Postgres, with hands-on use of AWS cloud services (Aurora, MSK, S3, IAM).
• Strong understanding and commitment to agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and multi-threading.

Nice to have

• Some experience of writing applications using Java.
• Developed web applications using ReactJS.
