TL;DR

Software Engineer (Java/Spring Boot): Building and optimizing high-load backend services for a payments platform with an accent on API design, microservices architecture, and performance. Focus on developing compliant and efficient payment capabilities, leveraging modern engineering toolsets, and ensuring system reliability.

Location: Hybrid in London (at least two days/40% in office)

Salary: £55,755–£61,950

What you will do

  • Design and develop delightful and vital software features or services.
  • Work with product and engineering leads to achieve vision and customer outcomes.
  • Write well-factored and tested code.
  • Demonstrate curiosity about technology and how things work.

Requirements

  • Strong programming skills with good working knowledge of Java & Spring Boot microservices.
  • Good understanding of modern engineering toolsets like Kubernetes and Jenkins.
  • Knowledge of Java development best practices and patterns.
  • Understanding of how to craft low-latency, high-availability, and performant applications.
  • Experience with quality engineering approaches such as CI/CD, Pair Programming, TDD, and BDD.
  • Experience working on any one of the cloud-based tools (Google GCP, MS Azure, Amazon AWS).

Nice to have

  • Experience in the Banking domain with BACS, Faster Payments, or Cash and Clearings schemes.
  • Exposure to monitoring tools and dashboards for automated monitoring.
