Backend Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Senior Backend Engineer (Cybersecurity, AI): Architecting and implementing cutting-edge cloud security detection systems for billions of events across multi-cloud environments with an accent on custom query languages, event orchestration, and advanced correlation engines. Focus on designing elegant systems to identify real-world threats and processing complex event patterns with minimal latency.

Location: This is a hybrid role based out of our office in NYC, candidate should be comfortable visiting the office twice a week once the development center is established. This position is open to U.S. candidates only.

Salary: $140,000–$215,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead backend engineering efforts for large-scale applications across hirify.global products.
• Build cloud-based systems to detect targeted attacks and automate cyber threat intelligence production at a global scale.
• Brainstorm, define, and build collaboratively with members across multiple teams.
• Continuously re-evaluate products to improve architecture, knowledge models, user experience, performance, and stability.
• Be given the autonomy to own your work in a high-trust environment.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or professional experience in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of scalability and distributed systems concepts (sharding, partitioning, concurrency).
• Thorough understanding of engineering best practices from appropriate testing paradigms to effective peer code reviews and resilient architecture.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, test-driven, collaborative, and iterative programming environment.
• Ability to meet commitments on time and produce high-quality, unit-tested, and code-reviewed software.
• Comfortable visiting the NYC office twice a week.
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Nice to have

• Contributions to the open-source community (GitHub, Stack Overflow, blogging).
• Existing exposure to Go, Scala, AWS, Cassandra, Kafka, Elasticsearch.
• Prior experience in the cybersecurity or intelligence field.
• Experience in thinking about, designing, or implementing programming languages and/or compilers.
