Senior Backend Engineer: Building and optimizing backend services within hirify.global's Energy Retail Platform, owning the full energy subscription lifecycle, with an accent on market integrations, invoicing, payments, and ensuring a scalable, reliable platform. Focus on shaping clear system boundaries, building great APIs and tooling, and driving measurable improvements in areas like payment rates.

Location: Hybrid (Stockholm or Førde, Sweden/Norway). Office attendance 2-3 days/week is required. Open to relocating to Stockholm or Førde.

What you will do

• Build, evolve, and operate backend services within a microservices ecosystem (across billing, payments, volume, market communication, and internal tooling).
• Take operational ownership: monitoring, incident response, on-call readiness, and continuous reliability improvements (DevOps).
• Drive measurable improvements within the area, for example, improving payment rates.
• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and market specialists to turn complex requirements into solutions.
• Reduce complexity by clarifying boundaries, defining interfaces, and improving service-to-service contracts.
• Champion a platform mindset by treating internal APIs and tools as products used by other teams.
• Contribute to technical discussions, architecture work, and longer-term initiatives across all of hirify.global's markets.

Requirements

• Senior backend experience building and operating distributed systems in production environments.
• Strong engineering practices (testing, observability, CI/CD) and care about running what you build.
• Comfortable in high-transaction domains where correctness, traceability, and reliability are non-negotiable.
• Team-first mindset: invite input early, surface blockers fast, and give/receive feedback in a constructive way.
• Located in Stockholm or Førde, Sweden/Norway (or open to relocating) and able to work from the office 2-3 days/week.
• Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience within the energy market, billing/payments, or financial systems.
• Experience with internal platforms/dev tooling.
• Experience with .NET, Kafka, Kubernetes, AWS, or Postgres.
