Data Engineer II (Remote - United States)

What you will do

• Design, deploy, maintain and support cloud-based SQL Server environments across VM’s, Azure SQL and Azure SQL Managed Instance platforms.
• Troubleshoot performance issues using standard tools and monitoring platforms.
• Take ownership of support issues, working with other engineering teams on data platform product solutions.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure solutions align with customer goals.
• Develop and execute pre-defined data pipeline patterns to build out our analytics and reporting Lakehouse.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience with SQL Server and Azure SQL in production environments, ideally within healthcare or regulated industries.
• Deep understanding of cloud database architecture, PaaS vs IaaS, and hybrid cloud models.
• Strong command of T-SQL, PowerShell, and optionally Python or C# for automation and scripting.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
• Familiarity with FHIR, HL7, or other healthcare data standards is a plus.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills, especially around data lineage and auditability.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure Fabric, Databricks or other big data platforms for large-scale healthcare analytics.
• Basic understanding of streaming data architectures (e.g., Azure Event Hubs, Kafka) and real-time analytics.
• Familiarity with Delta Lake, Parquet, or Lakehouse architectures.
• Understanding of data mesh principles and distributed data ownership models.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent.
